New Martinsville

Brenda Arlene Goodfellow, age 68, passed away on October 8, 2026, as the result of a vehicle accident. Though her passing brings great sorrow to those who loved her, her family finds comfort in knowing she has been reunited with the love of her life, her husband and partner in crime, Mark Goodfellow, who preceded her in death in 2025.

Born in Dayton, Ohio, Brenda settled in West Virginia as a child. She was the daughter of Arley Shepherd and Daisy Moore Shepherd, and she carried the love of family with her throughout her life.

Brenda was a blessing to her family and a devoted caregiver to those she loved. She would do anything for the people closest to her, offering kindness, care, and support whenever they needed it. Her love and generosity will be remembered always by the family and friends whose lives she touched.

She is survived by her daughter, Julie (Tim) Cozad; her grandsons, Austin (Sierra) Cozad and Jack Cozad; her sister, Lisa Shepherd; her brothers, Steve Shepherd and Scott (Sara) Shepherd; her mother-in-law, Estella Goodfellow; her brother-in-law, Greg (Shirley) Goodfellow; and her grumpy and spoiled dog, Roxie. She is also survived by close family members, nephews Nick (Hannah) Shepherd and Cameron (Mariah) Shepherd, nieces Shandra (Jarad) Ice and Amanda (Trevor) Samuelson, and many other aunts, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.

Brenda retired as Vice President of Mountain State Centers for Independent Living. She also worked with the West Virginia Division of Rehabilitation Services and the West Virginia Extension Office in Tyler County. Passionate about helping individuals with disabilities and fighting for their rights in their communities, she made that work a priority. To her grandsons, Austin and Jack, she was the proudest “BB” in the world.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Doddridge County Ambulance Services drivers, Chris and “Deedle.”

A service to honor Brenda’s life will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2026 at 11 AM at Myers Funeral Home. Visitation will be Friday, October 16, 2026 from 4:00PM -7:00PM.
