David Lee Cross

David Lee Cross, a beloved resident of Sistersville, WV, passed away Monday, September 28, 2026, at the age of 71.

Son of the late Laymen and Irene Cross, David was born November 25, 1954, in Hebron, WV. David was a cherished father, grandfather, brother, and friend and touched the lives of many with his warmth and humor.

David graduated from Sistersville High School, class of 1973. He dedicated 44 years of his life to serving his community in Middlebourne as a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service until he retired, where he was known for his friendly demeanor and unwavering commitment to his work.

David had a passion for woodworking, gardening, hunting, and fishing. He was a man of many talents, known for his delicious bread baking and cinnamon rolls, which he loved to share with friends and family. His sense of humor and love for joking brought joy to everyone around him. David was also a dedicated volunteer, assisting with the making of Apple Butter at the Harvest Festival every fall, a tradition that brought him great joy.

He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Irene Bailey (Brian); son, Michael John Cross (Amy); grandsons, Johnathan and Kaden Cross; and sister, Carolyn Smith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rebecca Jean (Reef) Cross; and two brothers, Joseph and Lewis Cross.

David will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and the joy he brought to those around him. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

David's funeral service will take place on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at Myers Funeral Home, beginning at 1:00 PM. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until the time of service.
