Donald Loye Archer

Donald Loye Archer, 89, of Sistersville, WV passed away Sunday, August 23, 2026 at Select Specialty Hospital in Morgantown, WV. He was born January 19, 1937 in Sistersville, a son of the late Ota T. Archer and Virginia N. Muzzy Archer.

Donald was a graduate of Sistersville High School and attended Sistersville First Baptist Church. He was a former member of Sistersville Jaycees, a life member of Sistersville Elks #333, 50 year member of the American Legion Post 67, chairman and member of Sistersville park and pool for several years, and a former member of Sistersville Lion’s Club.

Left to carry on Donald’s memory include his loving wife of 49 years, Nannie M. Archer; his daughters, Mary Ann Archer of Fayetteville, WV, Kathleen J. Clinton of Parkersburg, WV, step-daughters, Kay Lynn Dowler of Bassett, VA, and Jennifer Hayes of Wheeling, WV; his sons, Thomas M. Archer of Mooresville, NC and Matthew D. Archer of Charleston, WV; grandchildren, Christopher Smith, Tommy Archer, Ryen Archer, Matthew Archer, Joseph Swisher, Montgomery Archer, Matalyn Clark, Abigail Armstrong, and Trevor Hayes; and several great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Virgil Archer; and his granddaughter, Chloe Archer.

Funeral Services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, August 29, 2026 with Pastor Darrell Mayfield officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM until time of service.
