Florence Ann Archer-DiGangi, daughter of Lawrence and Freda Archer, passed away Friday, February 10 after a brief illness. She was born on August 12, 1930 in Sistersville, WV where she graduated from Sistersville High School in 1949. Flo, as she was known, loved children, and worked for the Tyler County Head Start, then later volunteered for the Wood County Schools' "Grandmas" program. For years, she operated Cosmo's Restaurant in Sistersville, which later expanded to St. Marys. She was very supportive of her children and grandchildren, volunteering with the PTA, as a 4-H mom, working the time clock in basketball games, and serving as the vice president of the Big Red Band Boosters. Much of her later life was spent working in retail at various establishments throughout Grand Central Mall, then Gabriel Brothers in Parkersburg. She loved traveling with friends and family, frequently touring attractions in the region such as Amish Country and Dollywood, as well as embarking on a Caribbean cruise with her daughter and granddaughter and often visiting her family in Connecticut and Florida. Florence Ann was preceded in death by her mother Freda Archer, her father Lawrence Archer, her brother Larry Archer, and her sister Donna Williamson. She is survived by her daughters Therese Auler and Monica Knight, her grandchildren Joshua Leach, Matthew Simmons, Rachael Bolander, Zachary Knight, Mariaha Knight, and Hannah Knight, as well as eight great grandchildren. Flo was adamant that her life not be grieved over, and that she would rather have had flowers while she could enjoy them. Therefore, a private memorial service will be held for the family, and we ask that donations be made to your local Head Start program in lieu of flowers. Florence opted for cremation, and has asked that her remains be committed to the ocean which she loved so much.
