Joseph "Joe" Warren Heintzman, 65, of Sistersville, WV passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at his residence. Son of the late Kathleen Mae and Warren Gerald Heintzman, Joe was born February 15, 1961, in Sistersville, WV. He was a lifelong resident of Sistersville, WV, and a proud graduate of Sistersville High School, Class of 1980. His deep roots in the community were evident through his decades of dedicated service and participation in local events.
Joe was a humorous man in his lifetime. He had a natural gift for making people laugh; his inner happiness rested on other people’s happiness, which was all reason for him to be a jestful, charismatic man. Despite his humor, Joe was someone that people could seriously confide in and receive honest advice, He listened to all rants and frustrations with no judgement; he was an amazing listener who also made sure that everyone’s rough patch ended with a small joke to make them smile. He especially wanted to make his grandchildren happy. He was always available to spend time with them; from rides to the dentist to sports events, Joe was there. Joe was also very passionate about track and field. He started track meets for a large portion of his life. Track was a substantial part of who Joe was. He enjoyed being surrounded by the runners and his fellow USATF officials. He was sure to be cracking jokes and making everyone around him laugh, whether they were beginning the race or crossing the finish line.
Joe's commitment to his community extended beyond his professional life. He was a lifetime member of Sistersville Elk Lodge 333, a USATF member, and an active participant in the Sistersville Alumni Association. His contributions to these organizations were as invaluable as the friendships he forged within them.
In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his brother, Phillip Heintzman.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Curtis Dewayne Heintzman (Tracy), Jayme Brianne Stoops (Brandon), Cole Anthony Heintzman, and Nathaniel Hunter Heintzman; grandchildren, Kelci, Cooper, McCarleigh, Gunner, Ralynn, Cade, Drayk, and Ayvi; brother, Thomas Heintzman (Patty); sisters, Ann Laing (Dave) and Alisa DeStefano (Frank); as well as several other nieces, nephews, friends, and family who will miss him greatly.
Funeral Service will begin at 6:00 PM, Friday, April 24, 2026 with Rev. Colleen Griffith officiating at Myers Funeral Home in Sistersville. Visiting hours will be 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM until time of service. A private cremation will follow.
