Ross J. Shuman (93), of 963 Maple Lane, Sistersville, WV, passed away on Saturday, February 21st, 2026. Ross passed away peacefully in the loving hands of Rada Weekley’s Care Center staff, Journey Hospice care, and surrounded by his family.

Ross was born on August 5th, 1932, at Sistersville hospital, the son of the late Ross Price Shuman and Pearl Victoria Shuman. Ross was raised in Sistersville, WV and graduated from Sistersville High School in 1952.

Ross was married and preceded in death by the former Barbara Ann Horner of Proctor, WV, brother, Auldin Shuman and sister-in-law Darlene Shuman of Lisban Ohio, and daughter-in-law Angela Shuman of Sistersville, WV.

Ross and Barbara are survived by their three children, Randy Mark Shuman of Sistersville, Rebecca Ann Lollathin and husband Michael of Sardis, OH and Matthew Ross Shuman and wife Vicky of Dade City, FL.

Surviving grandchildren include Tiffany Livingston and husband Doug, and Jacob Shuman of St. Petersburg, FL. As well as Nathan Shuman and Miranda Shuman of Dade City, FL.

Ross was a man of deep faith, unwavering work ethic and great patriotism, proudly serving two years in the United States Marine Corp. While serving during the Korean Conflict, Ross obtained the rank of Corporal E-3. Training in 29 Palms, California as an infantry soldier operating the 155MM cannons before his Honorable Discharge.

After leaving the service Ross took his skill back to Sistersville, working at the Texaco Gas Station for some time until an opportunity arose at Union Carbide. He worked at Carbide and its various other company names for 42 years before his retirement.

Many may remember Ross being active in youth sports and coaching little league baseball. His league team was the Pirates and coached the traveling all-star team along with other coaches.

Ross worshiped at the Church of Christ on Oxford Street in Sistersville. He was active with helping the church in any way possible with prayer, song leader and administratively.

Anyone that met Ross knew his love of Country, Family, Education and God. He lived his life to serve others and often felt the use of humor was his best teaching tool. His heartfelt advice and strong shoulder to lean on will be missed by all who knew him.

Viewing will be Friday, February 27, 2026 from 2-7 PM and at Noon on Saturday, February 28, 2026 until the time of the service at 1:00 PM at Myers Funeral Home , Sistersville.
