Bernard Lee Taylor, Sr.

May 27, 1949 - November 13, 2012

Bernard Lee Taylor, Sr., born May 27, 1949, went to be with the heavenly father on November 13, 2012 after a five-month illness. He was the son of the late Benjamin Harrison Taylor and Reva Ree Woofter Taylor. Bernie was an avid outdoorsman and hunter. In June of this year, he fulfilled a lifelong dream of going to Canada and killing a 325-lb black bear. He was a retired coal miner, retired IBEW worker and retired custodian for Tyler County Schools. For a few years, he owned and operated his own moving business. Bernie was a member of the Dale Church of Christ, Tyler Rod and Gun Club and the Alvy Community Club. He attended Valley High School. Bernie was loved by many and he will be missed dearly. Bernard is survived by his wife, Kathy Corrigan Taylor; son, Bernard Lee Taylor, Jr.; daughter, Patricia Renee (Bob) Cornell; sisters, Virginia Britton, Ruth (George) Hibbs, Sharon Smith and Dasie (Bill) Swiger; brother, Benjamin Taylor; grandchildren who called him Pap, Joshua, Jessica, Callie and Zack Taylor and Spenser, Ethan and Megan Cornell; great-grandson, Dean and he was expecting two more great-grandchildren; also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by, his daughter-in-law, Dawna Taylor; brothers, Stanley, Gideon, Waitman and Edward and sisters, Helen, Evelyn, Roxanna, Roxie, Genevie and Zelmadeen. Services will be Friday at 11:00 am at Myers Funeral Home with Evangelist William Ferrell officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 2-8 pm at Myers Funeral Home. Interment will be at Victory Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Dale Church of Christ, HC 62, Box 104, Jacksonburg, WV 26377.
