Richard William Grimm

December 30, 1925 - October 27, 2009

Richard William Grimm, 83, of Sistersville passed away October 27, 2009 in the Journey Hospice room at Sistersville General Hospital to be in God’s presence. Our loss is heaven’s gain. Richard was born December 30, 1925 in Sistersville to James Howard and Bertha Mae (Boyd) Grimm who preceded him in death. Richard was an Army veteran who served in World War II. Richard is survived by his wife Naomi “Susie” (Shuman) Grimm; and his daughter, Debbie and her husband James William “Bill” Hess of Sistersville; his grandson, James William “Jim” Hess, II and his wife, Tiffany (Stewart) Hess of Parkersburg; his granddaughter, Julie Lynn (Hess) Varughese and her husband, Dr. Timothy Varughese of Sunbury, OH; and granddaughter, Jenny Lynn Hess of Mount Vernon Nazarene University in Mount Vernon, OH. He also had two precious great grandsons, Jordan William Hess of Parkersburg; and Quincy Tyler Varughese of Sunbury, OH. Richard had one brother, Robert Lee Grimm of Cortland, OH; and his nephew and special “buddy”, James Michael Grimm and his wife Gale of Sistersville; and many special friends. He was a faithful member of the Paden City Church of the Nazarene and the Prime Timers, senior adult ministry. Richard retired from Ormet Aluminum Corporation in Hannibal, OH in 1990 after thirty-one years of service. Then he became a City of Sistersville volunteer worker for many years. He enjoyed being a helper to the city water works crew and especially liked welding the Christmas decorations for the city park and welding jobs on the Sistersville ferry boat. He was an active volunteer fireman for forty-seven years in the Sistersville Volunteer Fire Department. Following Richard’s wishes, he wanted his body donated to the Human Gift Registry of West Virginia University for the advancement of medical education and research. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Paden City Church of the Nazarene Prime Timers, 104 South Fifth Avenue, Paden City, WV 26159. A memorial service will be held at the Paden City Church of the Nazarene with Reverend David Edwards on Saturday, October 31, 2009 at 1:00 pm.
