Sandra Hughes Miller

September 13, 1941 - October 24, 2013

MILLER, Sandra Hughes, 72, of Sistersville, WV, left her earthly life peacefully surrounded by her loving family in the early hours of October 24, 2013 at the Camden Clark Medical Center in Parkersburg, WV. Sandy was born on September 13, 1941, the daughter of Francis and Margorie Hughes. She graduated from Westchester Senior High School in California in 1959. Upon Graduation, she began her life long career in the escrow business, where she retired in 1993 as the owner of SC Escrow Services Inc. in Manhattan Beach, CA. She was an avid golfer and loved to travel. She met her husband, Timothy W. Miller, on the golf course at Dessert Princess Country Club in Cathedral City, CA. They married in 1993 and spent the next 20 years playing golf around the country and enjoying each other’s company. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and spoiling them. It was a joy and an honor for her to share God’s love and God’s word with her church family at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Sistersville, WV. Sandy is survived by her husband, Tim; two special step-daughters, Ann (Larry) Helmick of Sistersville and Laura (Paul) McCall of Morgantown, WV; five grandchildren, Alexis, Jayden, Devan Helmick and Vanessa (Aaron) Matthews all of Sistersville and Liam McCall of Morgantown; a sister, Patricia (Richard) McCarthy of Anaheim Hills, CA; a brother, Robert (Barbara) Hughes of Hemet, CA; two sister-in-laws, Judy (Dominic) Austin of Lake Elsinore, CA and Betsy (Dan) Elliott of Paden City, WV; several nieces, nephews and cousins in California and New Jersey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a step-daughter, Sarah Jo Miller. There will be a celebration of her life at a later date in November. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be sent to the WVU Children’s Hospital, c/o WVU Foundation at One Waterfront Place, Morgantown, WV 26507.
