Wallace Stackpole

March 27, 1924 - April 14, 2013

William Wallace Stackpole, 89, of Sistersville, WV passed away Sunday, April 14, 2013 at Sistersville General Hospital. He was born March 27, 1924 in Wetzel County, WV a son of the late Cecil Earl and Eva Virginia Morgan Stackpole. He was a member of the Oxford Street Church of Christ, and he was retired from Union Carbide after 40 years of service. He was a US Navy Veteran of WWII serving as a Coxswain in the Seabee’s. He wrote a book detailing his service. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and he enjoyed spending time with his family and working in his shop. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Glenda Highley Stackpole, three children, Michael Earl (Deb) Stackpole of Raleigh-Durham, NC, Nora Ann Placer of Sistersville, WV, William Kenneth (Kelli) Stackpole of New Martinsville, WV, 6 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Patricia Howell of Clarington, OH, Janet Goodwin of Paden City, WV, and one brother, Cecil Neil Stackpole of Wileyville, WV. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Martha Stackpole, and great grandson, Christian Placer. Services will be held at 11 AM on Thursday April 18, 2013 at Myers Funeral Home with Evangelist Jerry Toothman officiating. Interment will follow at Paden Memorial Gardens, Paden City, WV with military graveside rites. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home.
