William Darrell Fiest

October 27, 1941 - March 15, 2014

William Darrell Fiest, 72, of New Martinsville, passed away March 15, 2014 in Sebring, FL. He was born October 27, 1941, a son of Betty Hissom Fiest of Sistersville and Dalton, GA and the late Jack Fiest. In addition to his mother, he is survived by a son, Derek Fiest of New Martinsville; grandson, Daniel Fiest of Sistersville; brother, Jack (Kathy) Fiest of Dalton, GA; special companion, Linda Smith and several nieces and nephews. Darrell was a retired military Chief Master Sergeant serving in the United States Air Force for more than 26 years.  During his military career, he served 2 tours in Vietnam, in addition to tours in Laos and Cambodia.  Darrell was the recipient of several distinguished military medals including the Bronze Star Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal and numerous others. He was a member of the VFW Post #6327 and member of the New Martinsville Moose Lodge #931 and he attended the Sistersville United Methodist Church. During his retirement in civilian life, Darrell loved spending time living in both, Sebring, FL and New Martinsville and traveling with his retired military friends.  He also had a deep love for music and enjoyed playing several different musical instruments. Visitation will be Thursday from 10-12 with the funeral beginning at 12:00 PM at Myers Funeral Home.  Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery with full military rites. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, KS  66675. Online condolences may be offered at myersfuneralhomewv.com.
